Eva Grant is working toward achieving IFAT (International Fair Trade Association) www.ifat.org status by working within the 10 standards of Fairtrade and we hope to achieve accreditation when we have been trading for two years (as required).

Regarding the many environmental concerns, we will endeavour to find the least harmful approach regardless how big or small the issue. We will continue to explore all avenues to find the most ethical and environmental products and methods. All of our textiles are woven using handlooms, so do not require electricity or fuel to power them and we aim to plan far enough in advance to be able to ship the textiles rather than transport them by air.

In addition to working with the more established larger development organisations we have chosen to work with small-scale producers, who lack the certification of the larger organisations, and aim to support them to achieve environmentally-sound production methods. Eva Grant hopes to encourage suppliers who are not using organic or Fairtrade yarns to explore these possibilities in the future and also the possibility that they themselves could achieve Fairtrade Organisation status.

Purpose:
1.To make and sell good-quality, stylish clothing using textiles from our suppliers.
2.To create opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers: provide a stable demand for fabric and clothing from individuals and organisations, who aim to help local people achieve a safe working environment; a reasonable local wage and a dependable income.
3.To support cultural skills and support individuals working to maintain these skills.

Aims:
1.To endeavour to reduce our environmental impact and when necessary encourage suppliers to consider alternative, less harmful processes.
2.To support suppliers to achieve accreditation.
3.To achieve IFAT accreditation for Eva Grant after two years of trading.
4.To increase customer knowledge about ethical and Fairtrade practices and about their power to change lives and the way we trade.
